« Previous Entriestells us that “Chairman Barry Norgrove believes that the money made from Harriers’ FA Cup run has taken some of the pressure off the cash-strapped club. Harriers have made £62,500 in prize money from the run so far and could be due another cash windfall from Saturday’s FA Cup clash at Coventry City. The club will get half the gate money from the game at the Ricoh Arena, after expenses have been taken out, which will be an added lift to Norgrove and the board… Harriers also seemed to be one of the crunch’s victims in October, when the chairman made a plea for new investors after his own house building company was affected… ‘The FA Cup run has been absolutely brilliant, there’s no doubting the money we have made from it has given us a big lift’, commented Norgrove. ‘It has helped to pay for bills and make sure we’re not in trouble’”.

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008“Weymouth’s caretaker-boss Alan Lewer has been offered the role on a permanent basis and will make his final decision on Friday. Lewer, who arrived from Cambridge United last summer as assistant-manager, took over the reins at the Terras on November 13th when former boss John Hollins was initially put on gardening leave before departing the club earlier this month… Lewer, whose last managerial post was at Forest Green Rovers, said: ‘An offer has been made and I will spend the next two days thinking it over. The budget has been cut to a level that the consortium feels is affordable in the present climate and I will be sitting down for a chat with them on Friday’. Wednesday, December 31st, 2008we learn that the “New Year celebrations began early when they secured the services of Leeds United goalkeeper, Alan Martin, on loan for the rest of the season. Martin has already had the maximum number of days permitted via the short term loan scheme, which began back in mid-September. Leeds do however retain the right to recall him ‘in extenuating circumstances’. The Scotland U-21 international has become a firm favourite with the Barrow fans… It is highly likely that there will be more additions to the squad in the near future as bosses Bayliss & Sheridan look to pull away from the relegation zone”.

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008“have strengthened their squad with the loan signing of striker Ricky Sappleton from Leicester City ahead of the New Year’s Day home game against Salisbury City. Nineteen year-old Ricky is a Jamaican-born forward who began his career at QPR and after trials with Liverpool and Middlesbrough the highly rated striker joined The Foxes in the summer of 2007. He made one senior appearance last season. He scored his first senior goal this season while on loan at Bournemouth. The deal is initially a one month loan”.
Wednesday, December 31st, 2008we learn that “Striker Iyseden Christie will make his move to Kettering Town permanent when the transfer window reopens on 1st January. The 31-year-old, signed on a free transfer from Kidderminster in the summer, made two appearances for Stevenage before going on loan to Kettering in September. The clubs have agreed a five-figure fee for his transfer”.

Also, “Weymouth Football Club have had an offer for Adam Bygrave which the club have accepted. Histon Football Club have paid five thousand pounds… Also included in the Transfer is various sell-on clauses, were Histon to get promoted or Adam to be sold on at a later date, also Histon Football Club have agreed that Adam will not play against Weymouth when we visit them on January 10th”.
